"If you want to die, then die by yourself!"
{Before I continue rambling, I believe that Misa is not in love with Light, but instead, his alter-ego, Kira. So in the next series of ramblings, I will only refer to Kira. But wait a minute, Light is Kira =_= Let me get to my point: Erasing Misa's memories and having her love Light without a cause isn't really... a good cause. Love at first sight? Sure, but in relation to 'first sight' would be Kira's justice served upon her parent's murderer. Saying she loves Light more than the world... amnesia much? If anything, her attraction to Light other than him being Kira is solely of his looks. Sorry to spoil your fun, but looks don't mean a thing in the context of 'love'. Or at least, not a shallow unrequited one where one's life is not of any real worth to the other. Yes, I'm evil enough to judge the true values of this so-called 'love'.
So, I will go as far as saying that Misa has a crush on Light, but her love and undying worshipping rests with Kira. And if there was no 'Kira' to begin with, Light would still exist, but Misa in no way, would know of his existence, and most likely, would not care if she were to one day meet the anti-bent-on-being-God Light. 'But then what about her whole devotion to Light when they lost their memories?'...Did you not read what I just said?!
But putting aside my logical argument, I have no problem with this pairing ;P}
Unlike the other two, I will not be repeating myself over and over again with what's good and evil and its horrendous subjectivity, complexities and technicailities involved, so I'll just get to the point.
(+) First, Misa is blindly motivated by both love and vengeance. Love for her parents [virtue], and vengeance towards the murderer of her parents [vice]. Within the Kira Context, she allows her cause to succumb to obsession [I'm assuming it's vice with its excess amount]. An obsession that has led her to absolute dogmatic obedience to Kira. Thus while being lucky enough to a) survive and b) to get her hands on a Death Note, has Misa found her own way of gratitude for Kira.
With her acceptance of being nothing more than a tool, it shows just how malleable Misa is, as from then on, Kira's orders are her only duties; no thoughts, no questions asked. Because of this, it somehow loosely opens up a route of innocence in her case; In Misa's judgement, an obsession mistaken for love is what she considers just.
(-) But of course, her innocence can be completely discerned as she killed a hefty amount of people for merely the defense and attention of Kira, more so than her own sense of justice [which by now, is completely obliterated as it's only 'Kira's way' from now on]. Being a pawn may mean being a victim, but to actually allow yourself to be a pawn obviously cannot truly be victimization. [Oh, how L-esque did I just sound?] And I also don't believe age [or age mentality in particular] to justify her reasoning and brash actions would be considered valid, because a) Light is younger than her b) and acts more mature than her and c) he has also killed a lot of people and frankly, does not care. So what is the verdict for Misa? In my opinion, she would be bordering around the 'indirectly evil'; it's like killing people when you're under influence, you don't mean harm, but your mind is too clouded to know, or to care.
:: Personal Insight [aka Spamful Rants] ::
I actually like Misa. But didn't Rem kill L because Rem thought that L would instantly kill Misa if she was caught because she was again on a rampage with the Death Note when she got her memories back because Light told her so thus she is partly responsible for the beloved L's demise? Indirectly, yes =P So why don't I hate her?
Every series always needs the spunk somewhere, and Misa just happened to be the one with spunk. And yes, I love my spunky characters, although I will admit, I hated her with a passion in the beginning. But as the series progressed, some anti-hate aura bursted out of her =X Hell, she proved that she can actually do things by herself and actually had use in the series for the most part. [omg, lyk, females aren't supposed to, right?] She was also L's partner in crime, bringing in some comic relief into the series! And besides, you sorta feel sad for her and her extreme yet futile attempts to be loved... even if it's just a wee bit. But when comparing her to Takada in a battle of drunken lovesick wits, Misa wins hands down. But then again, how can you hate little hyper lovesick girls who are not afraid to KILL PEOPLE AND THEMSELVES?
As for the haters, you know the drill: The Defend Misa Game!
1] She actually has a vital role to keep the story going *coughcoughsecondkira*
:: CONSPIRACIES: Misa in a Nutshell ::
Think of Harle [to her Mr. J] and Batman [the whole deal with her parent's murder] amalgamated. Got those personalities together? Ok! Now think of Bou from Antic Cafe. Seriously, the end product is almost uncanny.
I know that I'm not the only one here who thinks Misa and Bou are long lost twins separated between fiction and reality, female to male. [If any of you have a hard time thinking Rem is a female, this must be more puzzling to most =P] But for those who don't know who the heck Bou is and is too lazy to google [or in Light's case, to Gentle], I have provided a few pics to illustrate the freakish resemblance between Misa and Bou:
